Ingredients
Method
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (204 degrees Celsius). Line a large plate with paper towels.
- Put a wire rack on a large baking sheet. Evenly space bacon on the rack.
- Brush each the top of each piece of bacon with maple syrup.
- Bake for 18-25 minutes until bacon is done (this varies a lot depending on how thick your bacon is).
- Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle each piece very lightly with flaky sea salt (if desired).
- Transfer the bacon to the paper towel lined plate to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Bacon: Make sure the bacon isn’t too thin – preferably choose a medium/thick cut. Choose your favorite variety.
Maple Syrup: Only use pure maple syrup for the best results.
Flaky Sea Salt: Optional and might not be necessary if the bacon is salty enough on its own.
Crispy Bacon: Baking the bacon on a wire rack over a baking sheet allows the fat to drip off and the heat to circulate evenly, helping the bacon become crispy without burning the maple syrup.
Without a Wire Rack: You can bake the bacon directly on the baking pan.
Cooking Time: The baking time is 18-25 minutes, depending on bacon thickness and desired doneness.
Serving: Serve as a snack, as part of a charcuterie board, or alongside breakfast dishes such as pancakes, waffles, and cinnamon rolls.
Storage: Store maple bacon in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheating: Reheat on the stovetop over low heat or in the oven set to warm.
