Ingredients

  • 16 ounces refried beans

  • 1 cup salsa

  • 1 cup guacamole

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • ½ cup sour cream

  • ½ cup sliced black olives

  • 1 bag tortilla chips

Instructions

  • Spread the refried beans evenly across the bottom of a serving platter.
  • Spoon the salsa over the beans and smooth it into an even layer.
  • Add the guacamole on top and gently spread it across the surface without mixing it into the salsa layer.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese and sliced black olives evenly over the dip.
  • Spoon the sour cream into a piping bag or a zip-top bag with a very small corner snipped off. Pipe several circles over the top of the dip, starting near the center and working outward.
  • Drag a toothpick from the center toward the outside edge through the sour cream circles. Repeat around the dip to create a spiderweb pattern.
  • Serve immediately with tortilla chips.

Notes

  • Smooth the guacamole layer gently so the layers stay distinct.
  • Keep the opening in the piping bag small for cleaner sour cream lines.
  • Pipe the sour cream circles before dragging the toothpick through them.
  • Wipe the toothpick between passes if the sour cream starts to smear.
  • Serve the dip soon after decorating so the spiderweb pattern stays neat.
  • Keep tortilla chips separate until serving so they stay crisp.

Recipe Information

Course: Appetizer, Snack
Cuisine: Mexican-Inspired
Serving Style: Party dip with tortilla chips

This recipe does not require baking or cooking time. The main preparation is layering the ingredients and piping the sour cream design.

Important Recipe Information

For the cleanest spiderweb, make sure the top of the dip is relatively smooth before piping the sour cream. Start with a few evenly spaced circles, then drag the toothpick from the center outward in straight lines.

Avoid stirring the layers together while assembling. Keeping the beans, salsa, and guacamole separate gives the dip a cleaner appearance and makes the spiderweb easier to see.

Serving Suggestions

Place the platter in the center of a Halloween snack table and serve it with a bowl or basket of tortilla chips on the side. It also works well as part of a larger appetizer spread with other savory finger foods.

Variations

The olive pieces can be arranged more heavily around the outer edge or used to create a simple spider shape near the web. Keep the sour cream pattern as the main decoration so the top does not become too crowded.
